CHICAGO — Listening to police radio traffic following a critical incident is always sobering. Even more so when an officer is murdered in the line of duty and a partner is critically wounded, as in the case of Ella French and her partner who remains in critical condition.

French, 29, was murdered last Saturday night during a traffic stop. Three suspects have been arrested in the homicide, two brothers who participated in the shooting and a third suspect responsible for supplying the firearm, Law Officer reported.

The critically injured male officer suffered three gunshot wounds: One exited an eye, one lodged in the back of the head and one struck his shoulder, Law Officer reported.

Law Officer staff listened to the CPD radio traffic and felt compelled to share it with our readers. If you choose to listen to the dramatic encounter, please be mindful this is real life, these are not actors, and Officer Ella French really died.
