CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police recovered nearly 9 ounces of cocaine Tuesday after pulling over a 22-yearold man who was driving with his wife and three young children.
Officers stopped the car in a routine traffic stop near South Staples and Buford streets and discovered about 3 ounces of cocaine and a handgun inside, Capt. David Cook said.
The man granted consent to search his home in the 1300 block of York Avenue where police discovered an additional 6 ounces of cocaine and a rifle, police said. Carlos Cantu, 22, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a firearm.
Police said it was the first time he has been found with drugs in the city. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $9,000, police said.
He was released from jail Wednesday on $10,500 bail, jail officials said.
