SAN ANTONIO – Police in San Antonio say a 38-year-old woman suspected of shooting and killing her children, her mother and herself recently had been ordered by a court to give up those children.

According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, the woman shot her two kids, a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, and her 68-year-old mother Monday morning in an apartment in the Sedona Ranch complex in the 17600 block of Henderson Pass, KSAT reported.

The woman, who has not been identified by authorities, recently lost custody of her children, McManus said.

“She recently lost custody. Very recently lost custody of the two children,” McManus said. “(She) killed both children, her mother and then herself.”

The father of the kids had been trying to reach the mother for an unknown amount of time. He showed up at the apartment complex, peeked in through the blinds and found their bodies, McManus said.

Police were not able to determine right away exactly when the shootings happened, but the father called 911 around 8:30 a.m.

McManus said investigators were talking to neighbors, both in the hope of getting more information and calming their fears.

No names have been released yet.

MILWAUKEE — In an unrelated case, five people were found shot to death Monday inside a Milwaukee home, and officers took into custody the man who called police.

Chief Alfonso Morales said during a brief news conference that his department received a call around 10:30 a.m. Monday from a man who said his family was dead. When officers arrived at the house on the city’s north side they found five victims. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the victims were between the ages of 14 and 41.

Morales said during his news conference that there is no threat to the public. He said investigators believe the shooter acted alone and that the weapon had been recovered, WIBD reported.

Milwaukee Police spokeswoman Sheronda Grant didn’t immediately respond to email and voicemail messages from WIBD Monday afternoon.
