SANDUSKY, Ohio – A northern Ohio man has been charged with aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of a police officer.
Erie County sheriff's Capt. Paul Sigsworth says 50-year-old Kevin Randleman of Sandusky was charged Sunday.
Authorities didn't know if Randleman had an attorney, and the case was not listed in court records online.
Police haven't said why Sandusky Officer Andrew Dunn tried to stop Randleman as he rode a bicycle early Saturday or what prompted the gun battle that followed.
Dunn was killed. Randleman suffered a gunshot wound and was listed in stable condition Sunday.
Prosecutors say Randleman was accused of killing a Sandusky man in 1990 but was acquitted.
The Sandusky Register reports that Randleman has faced assault, weapons and drug charges and has served time behind bars.
