LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) – A Loudoun County sheriff’s Deputy is credited with saving a 4-year-old girl who could have fallen from a third-story balcony.
Authorities said the deputy went to Corkwood Drive and Ridgehaven Terrace Tuesday night at about 8:30 p.m. after a 5-year-old reportedly fell from a third story balcony.
When the deputy arrived, he saw the 4-year-old girl hanging on the outside railing of the apartment. He yelled to the girl not to move and ran up three flights of stairs to the apartment.
Once at the apartment, he tried to get inside. Before he was about to break in, a woman opened the door for the deputy. He ran then ran to the balcony and saved the girl from falling.
Authorities took the 5-year-old to Lansdowne Campus of INOVA Loudoun Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Child protective services was contacted to look into the incident.
