INDIANAPOLIS – Police have identified as suspect in following this weekend’s shooting that left nine people injured following an event at the Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration.
Officers are searching for 17-year-old Shamus Patton in connection with the crime. They say he is responsible for at least one of Saturday night's three incidents Saturday night.
Patton is described as standing 5'7" and weighs 220 lbs. Police ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to call 911 or you can remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS .
Police say Patton has a juvenile crime record.
Trouble began around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when the first shots rang out on Maryland Street between Meridian and Illinois Streets. According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Lt. Jeff Duhammel, five people were found shot at that location and two others were found in another location, after running from the scene.
Then just before midnight, IMPD officers responded to another shooting, bringing the total of injured to nine.
