GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — Jefferson County authorities say a 13-year-old girl is facing attempted murder, arson and other charges after a series of fires were set in an attempt to kill her family.
Jefferson County sheriff's spokeswoman Jacki Kelley said Thursday the girl was arrested after her fourth attempt.
According to the Denver Post (http://bit.ly/qnW8fU ) the girl is suspected of starting a fire southwest of Denver in April. That fire forced the evacuation of 80 homes before firefighters contained the 40-acre wildfire near her home.
Authorities also suspected arson in two other fires that broke out at the family's home within 24 hours. The second fire burned the home to the ground. No injuries were reported.
Last week, a grass fire was set near their new home, but it did not burn any buildings.
