ROY — A Roy resident was rescued from a burning home Saturday.
The fire at 3965 S. 225 West broke out around 6:30 p.m., Weber County dispatchers reported. Two people were in the home, including one who wasn't able to evacuate on their own, according to the Roy Police Department's Facebook page.
"The first Roy City officer on scene entered the home through thick smoke and flames and was able to locate the victim and carry him out of the house and away from the danger," the post states.
The officer and one of the home's occupants suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to an area hospital. The officer's hair was also singed.
Ammunition in the basement of the home went off during the rescue operation, according to Roy police.
The damage to the home was "severe" and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
