PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A teacher’s aide at a middle school in central Ohio is facing multiple criminal charges, including rape, after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old student, according to reports.
Mandy Davis has been arrested and charged after police said she repeatedly had sex with a student at her home over two-week long “relationship,” Daily Mail reported. It’s been confirmed that she worked at Teays Valley West Middle School as a teacher’s aide. The crimes reportedly occurred between April 26 and May 11
Davis was placed under investigation after a co-worker reported an “odd relationship” between her and a student, according to WBNS. Moreover, a concerned parent also contacted the sheriff’s office regarding Davis’ activity, officials said.
Investigators searched her home and took the teacher’s aide into custody on Wednesday. She was arraigned the following day, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
“Since this is a pending personnel matter involving a district employee, our practice is not to publicly discuss the specific facts and circumstances,” the Teays Valley Local School District said in a press statement, KNEWZ reported. “However, we can confirm that Ms. Davis has been notified that her services are no longer needed by the Board of Education.”
According to a news release from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Davis is charged with rape, gross sexual imposition, and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
