ORLANDO, Fla. – Authorities say an Orange County sheriff's deputy has died after being shot during a traffic stop in Orlando.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said the 27-year-old deputy died after being shot in the head Wednesday night.
Demings said two people were in the car the deputy had stopped and one of them fired at the deputy. Demings said authorities found the body of a man believed to be one of the suspects at an apartment building.
He said the man "may have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Authorities were still searching for the other suspect. The deputy's name was not released pending notification of relatives.
Demings said he had worked for the sheriff's department for 4 1/2 years and has been married to another deputy for about one year.
