A California Highway Patrol officer died on Wednesday after being involved in a motorcycle crash.
ABC 10 reports that Officer Lucas Chellew was 31 years old and a member of the South Sacramento CHP division. He was married with two children. He also has a sister, who’s a CHP Officer, and a father who’s a retired CHP captain.

Turnbull said the officer was involved in a motorcycle crash on Stockton Boulevard near Fruitridge Road at around 5:45 p.m. The roads are closed at this time for an investigation.
Officer Chellew was taken to UC Davis Medical Center where he died of his injuries according to police.
Governor Jerry Brown issued this statement Wednesday night following Officer Chellew’s death.
“Anne and I join all Californians in offering our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Chellew, who worked day and night to keep the people of California safe,” said Brown through press release. “Officer Chellew’s great courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
A bell tribute ceremony will be held at noon on Thursday in his memory at the CHP Academy, 3500 Reed Ave., West Sacramento.
