BALTIMORE — Baltimore police say an officer was seriously injured when she fell 20 to 25 feet from a bridge on the Jones Falls Expressway while working on a single-car accident.
Police spokesman Detective Donny Moses says 27-year-old Officer Teresa Rigby was in serious but stable condition Tuesday at Shock Trauma. He says she suffered multiple fractures.
The accident occurred about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday when Rigby was standing near a vehicle on the northbound JFX that was about to be towed.
Moses says another vehicle traveling north on the expressway lost control, spun and hit the rear of Rigby's cruiser. He said it was not clear if Rigby's vehicle hit her, pushing her over the guardrail, or if she went over it in an attempt to get out of the way.
