A police officer was injured during a standoff in New Milford (CT), according to city officials.
The incident began when the suspect called 911 and was apparently suicidal. Officers responded and initially the suspect refused to exit the residence.
The suspect fired a gun six times inside the residence.
Upon coming out, he fired a gun outside in the direction of officers. One officer was grazed by a bullet in the lower leg near the ankle.
Police then pointed a Taser and deployed it to subdue the suspect. No shots were fired by officers.
The injured officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
This is the second incident in less than a week where less lethal deployment occurred when a suspect was brandishing a gun.
Officers used less lethal force on a suspect in Bulverde (TX) on Thursday when he walked toward them with a gun. The Taser deployment failed and the suspect was eventually shot by officers.
