ILEETA (the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association) presented the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund with a check for $4,276. ILEETA raised much of the money this year with its annual World Cop Donut Eating Championship.

FATS Inc. has partnered with The University of Findlay in northwest Ohio to produce new video training courseware for various law enforcement and security markets. The partnership will develop scenarios for police departments, private-sector security, nuclear facility security, elementary and secondary school resource officers and college and university campus security.

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International announced Elsevier Public Safety as the official publisher of Public Safety Communications—APCO Bulletin. “APCO International is pleased to partner with Elsevier Public Safety on the production of our magazine,” APCO International President Wanda McCarley says. “We’re confident this partnership will produce the best source of information for public safety communications professionals and will enhance Elsevier’s current involvement in the public safety industry.”

The agreement between APCO International and Elsevier Public Safety is a long-term agreement in which Elsevier Public Safety will publish, produce, market, promote and sell the publication. APCO International will continue to define the editorial vision and content of the publication.

“Elsevier Public Safety is thrilled to be named the official publisher of Public Safety Communications," says Jeff Berend, vice president/publisher with Elsevier. “APCO, its Board and 15,000 members are leaders in public safety. This partnership will allow us to help APCO grow its membership via our other award-winning publications—JEMS, Law Officer, FireRescue and Wildland Firefighter. We are the only publisher reaching all these segments, now including communications, and this will bring value to professionals and vendors alike."

The first issue under this partnership will be the September 2006 issue of Public Safety Communications—APCO Bulletin.

Louder Than Words (LTW), a collective of high-end pistol smiths, holster makers and knife makers, has chosen the Cops4Kids Match Against Cancer, produced by the POSA (Police Officers Safety Association), as the benefactor of their annual raffle for 2006. LTW will build and donate a custom pistol, knife, holster and presentation case worth $12,000. The POSA will take donations for $10 per raffle ticket on their Web site at www.posacops4kids.com beginning Oct. 1, 2006. The drawing for the prize package will take place at the 2007 SHOT Show.
