An 18-year veteran of the Orlando Police Department died Saturday after battling heart problems, the Orlando Police Department announced.
Officer Kenneth Brown, 45, was “loved by many,” the department said in a tweet thanking him for his dedication and service.
Brown was assigned to the Orlando International Airport immediately before his death, but had spent most of his career in the motor unit working traffic homicides.
“He was a great guy,” said Orlando officer Steve Adams, who worked with Brown at the airport. “I don’t say that lightheartedly because I don’t really say that about people very often. He was one of the good ones.”
This is the second loss of an officer for the Orlando Police Department this year. Lt. Debra Clayton was killed in the line of duty in January during the hunt for accused killer Markeith Loyd.
