COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) — A Columbus police officer didn't wait for firefighters before attacking a house fire.
The Columbus Telegram reports (http://bit.ly/wMyeLY) Officer Heath Aldrich got to the scene early Thursday, just after the fire was reported by the man who lived in the house.
Aldrich helped the man and his three children escape, then went back inside and fought the flames with his fire extinguisher.
A space heater is suspected as the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
