The popular crime-fighting TV series America's Most Wanted now sponsors digital billboards to track down fugitives. Launched in the Cleveland area, seven digital billboards display information about David " Daddy Dave" Green, who escaped from a prison in Elkton, Ohio, in 2000, where he was serving a 19.5-year sentence for narcotics trafficking. His firearms violation history makes him especially dangerous. The wanted billboards feature the suspect's photo, along with a toll-free number for anonymous tips from the public. The alert is issued as a public service by Clear Channel Outdoor, which operates the billboards.
High-tech billboards are the latest way to reach the public, says John Walsh, host of the show. Our goal is to empower the public to help law enforcement.
The billboards are supplied by Daktronics Inc., which uses red, green and blue LED technology to present the text and graphics with appropriate brightness and wide-angle visibility. Operators can run real-time photographs and news-breaking tips at a moment's notice.
