PHOENIX – Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies have arrested 12 people in raids on four Phoenix-area McDonald's restaurants in a stolen identity case.
The restaurants being raided Friday are in Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio says more than 50 employees working at the businesses may be using falsified or stolen identities to gain employment.
Calls placed to two of the McDonald's were not answered Friday morning.
Deputies also served search warrants at the Paradise Valley home of Richard Coulston. Arpaio says Coulston owns the restaurants.
Arpaio and County Attorney Andrew Thomas plan a news conference later Friday to discuss the case.
McDonald's Corp., based in Oak Brook, Ill., did not immediately respond Friday to a request for comment.
