SALOME, Ariz. — Police officers frequently find themselves providing emergency medical aid to citizens experiencing a health crisis. On occasion, these become joyous moments. That was the case for two Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) troopers who performed a heroic act as they helped deliver a healthy baby girl last Friday in the back seat of a car.
“A trooper never knows what new challenges their shift will bring!” the Arizona Department of Public Safety wrote on Twitter. “Two of our District 4 troopers helped deliver a healthy baby girl in the back of a vehicle in Salome early on Friday, May 21st. Congratulations to mom and dad on their new arrival!”

The AZDPS told KYMA-TV that troopers were sent to a residential area in Salome, Arizona, to assist the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office with securing a scene late at night the day before.
While they were in the area, Troopers Montiel-Felix and Russell were approached by citizens requesting an ambulance to help an expecting mother in labor, Western Journal reported.
As they waited for EMS to arrive, the troopers remained with the woman. Before long, Trooper Montiel-Felix was delivering baby a baby girl as other passengers helped support the mother.
Everyone is reportedly doing well. Congratulations to the new parents!
