Outpouring of Support for Police After Officers Killed in Ambush

Citizens are showing an outpouring support—and acts of kindess—for law enforcement following the ambush-style killing of a police officers in Iowa on November 2, 2016, according to a KCCI news report.

Urbandale Police Officer Justin Martin was shot and killed in an ambush-style shooting on Wednesday. Des Moines Police Sgt. Anthony “Tony” Beminio was shot and killed in the second attack.

In a remarkable show of gratitude, citizens and businesses alike are showing support for local law enforcement, leaving officers overwhelmed and appreciative.

The outpouring of support has come in many forms: from food, flowers, prayer vigils, donations (and of course donuts).

One of these many acts of kindness, prompted an emotional moment between a citizen and an officer; when a woman kindly gave bottled water to an Urbandale officer working the perimeter of the crime scene, in which both shared a hug—a showing of mutal respect and appreciation for both the woman and the officer.
