ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that four Albuquerque police officers were taken to UNM Hospital after being injured in a northeast shooting Thursday morning.
The “critical incident” occurred at 1109 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, near the corner of Juan Tabo and Constitution after officers responded to a robbery call, KOB4 reported.
The medical condition and wounds were described by the news outlet as follows: “One officer was shot in the arm and went into surgery. One officer was shot in the middle of his bulletproof vest. One officer was shot above his bulletproof vest and went into surgery in critical condition. One officer was injured by shrapnel or shattered glass.”
According to the latest reports, one suspect is in custody but another is still at-large. The outstanding suspect was last seen heading west near Dutch Brothers on foot.
The situation appears fluid as police were in the process of shutting down area streets and locking down at least one nearby school, Fox News reported.
