Two DeSoto County (MS) Sheriff’s Department deputies were injured in an apparent shootout with a suspect in Southaven on Wednesday night, officials said.
Both deputies were rushed to the Regional Medical Center. One deputy was in critical condition, DeSoto Sheriff Chief Deputy Macon Moore said, while the other was in noncritical condition. The suspect was believed to have been killed.

The incident began around 9:30 p.m. behind the Heartland Church in Southaven on Stateline Road near Interstate 55. The suspect was wanted for a string of robberies. Additional details have not yet been released.
Several North Mississippi law enforcement officers from converged on the hospital to show their support.
