A man was shot and killed after taking a police baton from an officer and repeatedly striking two officers in the head, according to a WPIX news report.

Two NYPD police officers responded to a call about a suspicious man in the hallway at the Van Dyke Houses in Brownsville, Brooklyn on Saturday, November 10, 2016 around 1:10 p.m.

The two NYPD officers encountered the man on the 9th floor and began to physically struggle with him. One of the officers took out his baton—but the suspect grabbed it from him.

The suspect then struck both officers in the head several times with the officer’s baton.

The officers then drew their firearms, fired, and shot the unidentified suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NYPD police.

Both officers were taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition: one officer suffered a 2-inch gash on his forehead; the other officer suffered multiple contusions on her head.
