One of two Whittier police officers shot in an officer-involved shooting Monday has died of his injuries, authorities said.
The officers were responding to a car collision around 8 a.m. Monday in the area of Mar Vista and Colima Road when the shooting occurred, according to Whittier police Officer John Scoggins.
Two police officers and a “suspect” were struck by gunfire during an officer-involved shooting in Whittier (CA) on Monday morning, according to preliminary information released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred before 8:30 a.m. in the area of Colima Road and Mar Vista Street.

Three patients were transported to local hospitals in unknown conditions, according to L.A. County Fire Department Supervisor Simms.
It was not immediately known what prompted the shooting.
There have been no other details released at this time.
