KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A carjacking suspect was shot and killed by police officers from both Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday following a pursuit. The suspect was identified by KCKPD as Dario Dominguez.

On Sunday, KCPD officers were pursuing Dominguez, 25, who was involved in an armed carjacking. The crime occurred just before noon on Thursday in KCK, according to KCKPD.

The chase proceeded on Sunday into Kansas and terminated when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle from the carjacking at 18th Street and Parallel Parkway, authorities said, FOX4KC reported.

Nancy Chartrand, spokesperson of KCKPD, said the preliminary investigation reveals that Dominguez fled from the stolen vehicle and began running with police chasing him.

During the foot pursuit, Dominguez turned and fired at pursuing officers who subsequently returned fire. The suspect was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he later died, Chartrand said.

There were two officers involved in the fatal shooting, one with KCPD and one with KCKPD. No officers were injured, according to police, FOX4KC reported.

The OIS will be investigated by a multi-agency task force that includes KCKPD, the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office.
