Bomb threat investigations at Times Square and The Capitol

UPDATE: A suspect has been taken into custody for the bomb threat at the U.S. Capitol. Read more.

An active bomb threat investigation is currently underway near the United States Capitol and in New York City. The events started early Thursday after a man drove a pickup onto the sidewalk outside the Library of Congress and claimed he had explosives.

Negotiations continue with the man at the time of this writing.

At approximately 11:30 CST, Times Square was evacuated in New York City due to a suspicious package. The NYPD Bomb Unit remains on the scene.
