A south Texas police officer and his wife have been found dead in their home in what investigators say appears to be a murder-suicide.
The McAllen Monitor reports that the bodies of Jose "Joe" Hernandez and his wife, Rosa Maria Castillo, were found when officers responded to a shooting at their apartment Tuesday morning.
San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez said the investigation was ongoing. Hernandez had worked for the San Juan police department for eight years and the couple had been married for less than a year.
