HERCULES, Calif. – A man killed in a crash during what police say was a street race has been identified as a San Francisco sheriff's deputy.
Hercules police say 23-year-old Christopher Walker was killed Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his car and it crashed into a power pole
San Francisco Sheriff's Department Chief of Staff Eileen Hirst said Walker provided security at San Francisco General Hospital. He had worked as a deputy for the department for two years.
Investigators believe Walker was racing a newer model sedan with paper dealer license plates at the time of the crash.
Hercules police are seeking information from any possible witnesses.
