Abilene (TX) Police Detective Elise Ybarra was killed in a crash on Sunday while driving to the Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas.

She is survived by her husband of eight years, Adam Ybarra, and their 10-month-old daughter.

Detectives Chris Milliorn and Robert Collins are reported to have non-life threatening injuries but the Texas DPS said that their injuries are “incapacitating.”

Ybarra, was driving an unmarked detective’s vehicle at the time of the collision and had entered a line of slow-moving traffic. A short time later, an eastbound white Chevrolet pickup came upon the line of traffic that was slowed and collided with the detectives’ vehicle.

Detective Ybarra began her law enforcement career with the Sedalia (MO) Police Department and started her career with the Abilene Police Department on June 2, 2014. After graduating from the Abilene Police Academy, she was sworn in as an Abilene Police Officer on Nov. 21, 2014.

After serving as a patrol officer for two years, she transferred to the Special Victims’ Unit as a child abuse investigator on Dec. 14, 2016.
