WYNNE, Ark. – The family of Christy Rooks from Wynne, Ark. says she would never be gone for two weeks without telling someone. Moreover, the chief of police believes she could be in danger and there is cause for concern.
“Something definitely is wrong. We believe she is in danger. For this long, definitely strange. She’s normally two or three day thing, but not a two week thing,” Wynne Police Chief Jackie Clark said.
Rooks’ son, Tyler Furcell, just arrived in Wynne from Fayetteville where he lives. He is joining his grandmother in their search for the missing woman, but they are in a quandary as to where to look.
Rooks, 42, seems to have disappeared sometime around Jan. 17.
Her family said she has been dating Earl Parks for about six months, WMC reported.
The family says Parks claimed to have last seen Rooks after she left his place, an hour away in Hazen, heading to her apartment in Wynne.
Parks updated his Facebook in October stating he is in relationship with Rooks. As a result, people are peppering him with questions on his page regarding the location of the missing woman. Law enforcement did not disclose Parks’ level of cooperation.
Wynne Police have been seeking help from the public.
Furcell said the family will go to Hazen searching for his mother, although he is unsure where to begin.
The family is understandably worried. They say would never take off, and certainly not for two weeks without letting someone know where she is.
“The case is very active at the current time and sensitive as always, due to being an ongoing investigation,” Clark said. “These developments have more or less shifted the investigation to the Prairie County area,” WMC reported.
The chief confirmed there has been no social media activity from Rooks since she’s been missing.
Arkansas State Police and the Prairie County Sheriff’s Department will be part of the investigation.
