NEW YORK — A liquor company CEO Ian Matthew Crystal has been identified as the man who was reportedly high on acid when he plunged to his death at Citi Field, police said.
Crystal, 46, died Friday after plummeting 30 to 50 feet during intermission at the Dead & Company show, an NYPD spokesman confirmed Monday.
New York Post reported the 46-year-old Brooklyn resident was a co-founder of Evolution Spirits, according to his LinkedIn page. The company is based out of New York.
Sources said Crystal allegedly took acid (LSD) before trying to do a flip that led to the fatal fall at Citi Field, which is also home to the New York Mets. Moreover, the CEO had been drinking and smoking pot beforehand, according to sources, the new outlet reported.
“I heard people going ‘ahhh’ and see people running. I said ‘bro, someone took a f—ing header,” a concert-goer told the Post Friday night.
Ian Crystal, who jumped from a second-floor concourse, was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, the New Post reported. (Linkedin)
Crystal served as CEO of Evolution Spirits, the creator of Monkey Rum from Trinidad that’s available in 11 states. The booze was developed due to a 2014 challenge to create a new brand to support the National Geographic Channel show “Chug,” according to the late entrepreneur’s LinkedIn profile.
