Macclenny, Florida — A Baker County Sheriff’s Office deputy is recovering after being shot in the arm while responding to a domestic violence call Saturday evening.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence off Harry Rewis Road in north Macclenny after receiving a report of domestic violence. Authorities said the initial call involved a shooting inside the home, with an adult male reportedly shot by a family member.
As deputies approached the residence, officials said they came under gunfire. Deputies returned fire, striking the suspect and taking him into custody. During the exchange, one deputy was hit in the arm and transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators later discovered a deceased adult male inside the home.
By late Saturday night, the wounded deputy had been released from the hospital. The suspect who was shot during the incident died from his injuries.
