A Border Patrol agent involved in the traffic stop that resulted in the death Tuesday of a Nassau County deputy after he was struck with a car identified at least three people in the country illegally, a statement from U.S. Border Patrol says.
A Border Patrol agent and two Nassau County deputies approached the stationary vehicle at a gas station on State Road 200 with five people inside early Tuesday morning.

The agent got the three suspected foreign nationals without clearance to be in the U.S. out of the car with the intention of arresting them when someone in the pickup got out and bolted across busy S.R. 200, Border Patrol says.
While the Border Patrol agent put the three people into his vehicle, Deputy Eric Oliver and another Nassau County deputy gave chase across S.R. 200. Oliver was hit by a vehicle on the roadway.
