Police officers and sheriff’s deputies have been under assault in record numbers recently. There have been far more than double the number of ambush-style attacks on law enforcement personnel so far this year compared to the same time in 2020, the National Fraternal Order of Police reported.
As of Tuesday, the National FOP “sounding the alarm” notes 83 officers were wounded in 67 “ambush-style attacks” on officers year to date.
In total, 220 officers have been shot, with 40 of them murdered.

This represents an increase of 148% from the same time last year.
“What we’re witnessing should alarm all Americans: 2021 is on pace to have record levels of officers SHOT and KILLED by gunfire,” the FOP reported.
