US Park Police Officer Attacked by Rabid Raccoon, Accidentally Shoots Himself

A U.S. Park Police officer was attacked by a rabid raccoon in northwest Washington D.C. on November 3, 2106, according to a WJLA news report.

The officer was trying to fend off the sick raccoon and attempted to shoot the animal, but unfortunately, shot himself in the foot sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

Another officer arrived and killed the raccoon. Afterward, the officer was flown to the hospital via helicopter.
