Las Vegas – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released video footage of an incident where an intoxicated man exchanged gunfire with LVMPD officer before being arrested. The shooting occurred on May 22nd after a woman called 911 saying that her 49-year-old husband was intoxicated, hallucinating, and was armed with a gun. When officers arrived, the woman and her teenage son came out of a residence and told officers that her husband was still inside and armed.
Upon hearing gunfire inside the residence, officers set up a perimeter. One of the officers armed with a rifle along with his spotter observed the man armed with a “long gun,” exit from an upstairs balcony door. The suspect fired one shot at the officers and an officer with the rifle returned fire.
The man then went back inside the residence, at which point the incident was deemed a barricade. The man allegedly continued shooting at the officers from inside the residence. During the barricade, officers observed the man exit from the front door of the residence and placed a shotgun on the front lawn and returned inside the residence. The man eventually exited from the rear of his residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
