San Francisco, California: A San Francisco police pursuit involving a reported stolen vehicle ended in a traffic collision Friday morning when a patrol vehicle struck an uninvolved car near Pine Street and Divisadero Street, sending the other driver to a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers spotted the reported stolen vehicle near Geary Boulevard and St Joseph’s Avenue just after 7:20 a.m. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield and fled, prompting a pursuit through the area.
During the chase, the pursuing SFPD vehicle crashed with another vehicle in the 2700 block of Pine Street, near the intersection with Divisadero, police said. The collision ended the immediate pursuit, and officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle at the Pine and Divisadero area, according to accounts citing the department’s statement.
The driver of the uninvolved vehicle was transported to a hospital for treatment, and authorities said the person is expected to be OK. The two officers involved were evaluated at the scene and did not require transport to a hospital.
Police have not released details about the suspect or suspects connected to the stolen vehicle report, and no arrests had been announced as of the latest updates. After the crash, officers later located the suspect vehicle abandoned in Oakland.
