COMPTON, Calif. – Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy by a sheriff's deputy in Compton.
Sheriff's Detective Steve Blagg said Monday the boy had a handgun when he was shot Sunday afternoon.
Blagg would not say if the unidentified teen threatened the deputy or how many times the deputy fired.
Blagg says the deputy was on routine patrol.
The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The name of the deputy has not been released.
