Atlanta Police Officer Shot & Killed In His Home

Atlanta police are in shock tonight as one of their own was shot and killed in their home Wednesday morning at 4 am.

Sources indicate that the incident appears to domestic in nature. Officer Stanley Lawrence was killed in the shooting.

Atlanta Police Chief Shields released the following statement to FOX 5 News:

“We are stunned by this terrible news. Stanley Lawrence was a respected officer who was beloved by his colleagues and the children of our Police Athletic League, where he worked every day to mentor and positively impact their lives. We are deeply saddened, and will miss him terribly. We are doing everything we can to support his family and colleagues as we all grieve this tragic loss.”

Lawrence was a 20 year veteran and was assigned to the Police Athletic League.

Lawrence’s wife, 49-year-old Tammare Lawrence, faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in his death.
