Newark, New Jersey – A 14-year-old boy is accused of ambushing and killing a Newark (NJ) police officer Friday night. The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. near a White Castle as Detective Joseph Azcona, 26, arrived on the scene.
Azcona was shot before he could get out his police car. He later died at a local hospital.
A second officer was also shot and those injuries are being reported as non-life threatening.
The juvenile suspect has not yet been identified but has been charged with murder.
The suspect allegedly fired a total of 29 shots at officers.
