TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Tulsa County Sheriff has placed the agency's spokesman on administrative leave following the shooting of an unarmed man by a volunteer deputy.
Sheriff Stanley Glanz announced in a press release Monday that Maj. Shannon Clark is on administrative leave without pay pending a performance evaluation. Glanz didn't say why the action was taken and didn't respond to a request for comment by The Associated Press.

Clark said Monday that he didn't know why he was placed on leave.
In April, Clark denied the existence of a 2009 memo in which employees detailed concerns about the training of reserve deputy Robert Bates. The memo was then released by an attorney representing the family of the man Bates killed on April 2 and ultimately was verified by the sheriff's office attorney.
