Americus (GA) Police Officer Nicholas Smarr has been identified after being shot and killed earlier today while responding to a domestic violence call.
He responded along with Georgia Southwestern Police Officer Jody Smith to a call of of domestic violence at an apartment complex near the Georgia Southwestern University campus.
When the officers arrived, they were shot by the domestic violence suspect. The suspect has been identified as Minguell Kennedy Lembrick, 32. He remains outstanding.
Officer Jody Smith is described as being in extremely critical condition.
