PASADENA, Calif. — Guidance Software, Inc. recently announced a major overhaul of its market-leading EnCase Forensic software, with version 7 now integrating smartphone investigations and new automation capabilities that allow investigators to examine more file systems and operating systems than ever before.

With EnCase Forensic v7, critical evidence can be acquired directly from a variety of smartphone devices including popular iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android devices. Additionally, the updated version includes a new user interface with built-in features to guide investigators through the complex digital investigation workflow.

Version 7 also allows investigators to uncover evidence faster, with the advanced indexing engine used by Guidance Software’s EnCase eDiscovery and EnCase Cybersecurity. Investigators can search results across files, email, instant message conversations, smart phones, etc. all in one location, greatly simplifying the process of reviewing search results.

Email in EnCase Forensic v7 has been totally redesigned, with the look, feel, and functionality now mirroring popular email programs, such as Microsoft Outlook. In addition, EnCase Forensic v7 includes email threading and related conversations to enable investigators to understand the context of emails, which is critically important in an investigation.

The EnCase Forensic v7 Processor also gives investigator the ability to automate processing of common tasks across all case data; evidence management has been optimized for very fast case access; and scalability has been improved so that investigators are no longer hampered by memory restrictions.

“This version of EnCase Forensic marks an important evolution for digital investigations. Simply stated, this is the most powerful and easiest-to-use version of EnCase Forensic ever developed,” said Robert Botchek, vice president of forensic solutions for Guidance Software. “The update is a reflection of our customers’ requests and it is our hope that it not only meets, but exceeds their needs.”

Product availability has not yet been announced, but all EnCase Forensic v6 customers can register to participate in a public trial of the software at the Guidance Software website.

Additionally, Guidance Software is offering a special promotion for customers who need to purchase EnCase Forensic now. More information on this promotion is available at the Guidance Software website.
