KABC-TV reports that Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck was involved in an off-road motorcycle accident in the Tehachapi Mountains on Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Chief Beck is a motorcycle enthusiast and was riding with friends when the accident occurred on a rocky trail according to a news release from the LAPD.

Despite his injuries, including suffering a fractured pelvis, Beck was able to ride back to his truck and drive home.  He then underwent emergency care at a hospital, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
