INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis police officer is in a medically induced coma after surgery for a gunshot wound to the head. Police say 29-year-old Jason Fishburn Officer is in critical condition. Doctors operated last night to relieve pressure on his brain from the wound. Police Chief Michael Spears says Fishburn was shot yesterday while trying to serve a warrant on a man being sought in connection with a recent murder. He also was hit in the torso, but that wound was not as serious because he was wearing body armor. The 36-year-old suspect also was shot and hospitalized. Police did not release his name or condition. The suspect was being sought in death of 69-year-old Clifford Haddix, who was killed in his home on Sunday. Indianapolis police have investigated 11 homicides since June 30th.
