Allison Uribe is the founder of Wives on Duty Ministries, and is the author of several books, including the recently released devotional Cuffs and Coffee for Wives of America’s Law Enforcement Officers. She is a chaplain and sought-after speaker, and as the wife of a San Antonio, TX Police Officer, she has reached wives internationally with encouragement in their journey as a police wife.
Allison became a Chaplain and decided to serve law enforcement wives after her own personal marriage crisis. In this episode she explains, “God was invited to our wedding, but He wasn’t invited into our marriage.” In great vulnerability, she reveals that she was ready to give up because of the disconnectedness in her relationship, called out to God, and committed herself to change.
She learned that the key to God working in her home was self-change that comes from surrender to God. Rather than praying for God to change her husband, she had to allow God to transform her into the “wife on duty.”
She goes on to talk about her new book, and even reads one of the devotionals for our audience.
As a final word of advice, Allison says, “Connect. It’s OK to not be OK. It’s OK to reach out and connect with others and with God. It’s OK to reach out for resources and help.”
