Sandy Springs, Georgia – A suspect with warrants tried a getaway vehicle police do not see every day: a golf cart.
Sandy Springs police said officers tracked the suspect to a local golf course on Christmas Eve, after locating him in connection with a previous incident and outstanding warrants. When officers moved in, body camera video shows the man climbing into a cart and driving off across the course while officers shout commands for him to stop.
Officers responded by doing the obvious thing possible. They grabbed nearby golf carts and followed. The video shows the distance closing quickly as the suspect weaves along the grass and cart paths. Police said the chase was brief, and the suspect was taken into custody without injury.
The incident that occurred at the Steel Canyon Golf Club in Sandy Springs. Police have not released the suspect’s name or the charges he faces.
If the officer’s quick actions look calm and normal, you’d be right. The agency had recently added a golf cart to its fleet to help with patrols in parks and recreational areas.
