A NYPD detective committed suicide at his Queens home on Monday, according to sources.
The New York Post reported that second-grade Detective Paul Federico, 53, hanged himself at the 79th Street house in Middle Village around 12:25 p.m.
Federico was working in the department’s liaison unit and was a long time veteran of the department.
Federico recently was currently on restricted duty but it has not been reported what led up to that.
Ten NYPD officers committed suicide in 2019.
This was the first in 2020.
Blue Help reports that 228 American police officers committed suicide last year.
