Sgt. Pablo Mendoza was traveling with three other Fort Worth police officer to attend the funeral of NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo when he made a hopeful, heartfelt discovery.
According to a Fox 4 News report Sgt. Mendoza found a handwritten not that his eight-year-old daughter Emily wrote and slipped inside his suitcase.

Emily’s note read:
“Dear Dad, I’m sorry about NYPD officer. I pray and hope this violence stops. You are my hero. Be careful and be safe. Grace, Mom and I are going to miss you. WE LOVE YOU!!”
Sgt. Mendoza said that when he found his daugher’s note, “it brought tears to his eyes.” And he provided a glimpse of innocence that should offer at least some consolation for officers nationwide: “My daughters, they see the news and what’s going on—the violence toward police…so they pray for me and other police officers on a nightly basis.”
