Police are investigating reports of shots fired at police on motorcycles In Kansas City.
The incidents were reported last week while motorcycle officers were preparing for the funeral of Kansas City (KS) Captain Dave Melton.
Both incidents reportedly happened along Interstate 70, and involved a vehicle described as a dark-colored passenger car.
On Wednesday, after motorcycle officers escorted Melton’s body to the funeral home, KCK police said a suspicious car followed a Lenexa officer as he rode near the I-70/I-670 split, following closely and matching the speed of the officer.
KCK police said they also are investigating a report from Friday, where a 911 caller claimed someone was standing through a sunroof of a dark colored car and shooting at their motorcycle officers traveling on I-70.
No police officer witnessed the incident, but Thomas-Hickerson said it does have traffic cops on edge.
